Garth Woodson
Instructor - Congressional Debate
Garth Woodson competed in speech and debate at Perry High School. After graduating, he volunteered with the Perry team and served as an assistant coach for 5 years, focusing mainly on Congressional Debate and Lincoln-Douglas debate. He coached multiple state finalists and assisted dozens of students to make it to the national tournament. He helped the Perry Speech and Debate team win the state championship in team sweepstakes points three years in a row. Garth graduated from The University of Akron School of Law in 2020. He led the expansion of the Congressional Debate division at CDC in 2022. Garth is a firm believer that camp should be both fun and educational, and during free time, he can often be found playing video games with campers in the dorm.
Mary Paydock
Instructor - Congressional Debate
Mary Paydock competed in Congressional Debate for two years at Northwest High School. She helped her school form their speech and debate team and served as the President her junior and senior year. She was a two time semi-finalist in Congress at the Ohio state tournament and a two time national qualifier. Mary won the Eastern Ohio National Qualifier her senior year. Mary is attending the Ohio State University and is studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics and Music Performance! Mary attended CDC as a camper in 2021 and joined the staff in 2022.
Hayden Frazee
Instructor - Congressional Debate
Hayden Frazee competed in Congressional Debate for three years at Perry High School. He was the event captain of the Congressional Debate team which scored the second most sweepstakes points at the 2023 Ohio state tournament. Hayden was a three-time state qualifier, quarterfinaling once, semifinaling once, and finaling once, placing 10th in his senior season. He was also a three-time national qualifier, making it to the semi-finals at the national tournament in 2023. Hayden is attending Ohio University to study business, with plans of going to law school after college. He attended Classic Debate Camp as a camper twice, in 2021 and 2022. Hayden joined the Congress staff in 2023. He is extremely excited to give back to the program that helped him excel as a debater and as an individual.
